1) Get your hair cut every four to six weeks because a style is based on distributions of weight. As the hair grows, the weight changes making it difficult to style. Over time the ends get older, grow farther away from the nutrient source (the scalp) and the ends split and fray and break. Left unchecked the split can travel up the hair shaft. This is why when you’re growing your hair you actually get faster results with regular trims;
2) Have your hair professionally coloured because although it’s easy to go into the drug store, buy a box of colour and slap it on your head; what’s not so easy is to have that bad colour corrected. Many times when an unhappy drug store result is achieved, people go back 2 and 3 times to buy other boxes of colour to try to fix the mistake, compounding the problem and making it more difficult for a professional to correct.
